About Me

a Belfast Beauty addict, I decided to keep a blog because like many women I'm just a girl who can't say no to the latest beauty trend and fad - often to my detriment! I'm going to be reviewing the best and the worst of my beauty finds from this day forth.....I work in media and love my job, so this is me living out my other fantasy job for beauty editor! Most photos are taken by myself on my crappy phone camera, unless otherwise stated :)

September Boudoir Privé Review

I have only just received my very pretty box as I've been away but was exicited to see the beautiful pink box, delightfully packaged on my bed this morning(pictures to follow). On first impressions the contents have left me feeling a little flat. With the exception of the nail polish Zoya, which really isnt my colour everything is very tiny.

It contains: Zoya Nail Polish in Zen
Cargo Boogie Nights eyeliner
Tropic Body Polish
Macadamia Hair Oil
Colbert Eye Cream
Agent Provocateur Perfume Sample
Mai Couture Blot Paper

I dont like making a snap review without trying products so will review these very soon when I have tried the products properly.

REVIEW: BUMBLE AND BUMBLE QUENCH MASQUE

Shakespeare said that there's many a man has more hair than wit – well I think this certainly applies to me, being more than a little obsessed with my tresses!

I have a horrible feeling there are going to be alot of 'hair mask' posts on this blog. I'm naturally brunette but for some reason I've gone bleach blonde and can't seem to go back. My once lustrous long dark locks are getting more and more frazzled by the day so I'm constantly on the look out for something that will make it look less horrible and grow more!

Today's impulse purchase was the Bumble and Bumble Quench! It was £27.50 from Space NK. I've been using protein based masks but got this because I thought I needed a serious moisture injection to countern - act the dryness protein masks can leave.

The Science Bit

Hmmm so Bumble and Bumble describe this as ‘restoring natural moisture barrier for supple softness, strength and sublime detangling.’

The Packaging

I
like the packaging -  a white tube with a nautical blue stripe & looks smart on my shower ledge. I think it looks quite beachy. It comes in a squeezy tube which is super because I find tubs can get messy. There’s no unnecessary packaging making it relatively green! Sadly, praise for this product comes to rather an abrupt end here.

The Verdict

I have now used the mask 5 times (once a week since I purchased) and I’m feeling rather crestfallen by it.  It feels quite nice and luxurious on my hair (I left it on for 15 minutes) but after I washed it out I really couldn’t see a difference in my hair. I know it’s a moisture mask & not a reconstructor so I just wanted to feel like my hair had had a drink.  Not deterred I soldiered on with it, but I can see no real difference in my hair & if anything, it’s looking even drier. Oh woe!

It could just be a hair type – my sister who has healthy uncolored hair tried this and liked it, but for my bleached blonde damaged hair it just didn’t penetrate it and fill it up with moisture. Anyway, It wasn’t a patch on my Holy Grail Kerastase Masquintense, and I feel paying nearly £30 to discover this is a high price!

I’d also like to say that as a rule I’m a bumble and Bumble fan having been impressed by Crème de Coco & being a huge fan of Brilliantine. The search continues...
